Chuck Greene is a true Appalachian who is releasing his debut single on Nashville label, Reptile Records. Fall On The Clinch Mountain describes how life on the mountain changes in the fall with the expectation of a winter chill that’s sure to come. The Clinch Mountain is a 150 mile long ridge in the US states of Tennessee and Virginia located within the ridge and valley of the Appalachian Mountains. Many songs have been written about this mountain range including works by Woody Guthrie and Ralph Stanley. Greene adds his name to this list with a Bluegrass version as his acoustic guitar begins the tale of, “a winter chill is in the air, all the trees on the mountain are slowly going bare.”

Greene’s plaintive vocal weaves a simple tale of mountain life with dogs and wives laying down the law, and going out on a Saturday night all decked out. Inspired by his favorite writers, Bob Dylan and John Prine, Chuck takes a simple, easy approach in his songwriting, giving Fall On The Clinch Mountain a warm, down home feel. While Chuck holds down the guitar and bass on this recording, he’s joined by old friend Alex Ball on fiddle and Nashville session ace, Wanda Vic Burchfield playing fiddle, banjo and mandolin.

Chuck was born into a musical family in Scott County, Virginia at the base of the Clinch Mountains. At various family gatherings, bluegrass music would prevail and children were encouraged to join in. At nine years of age, Chuck discovered the mandolin and dreamed of becoming Bill Monroe. By the time he was a teen, Greene had added guitar, bass and banjo to his repertoire, while forming a band that would perform at area clubs and festivals.

Reptile Records has previously released Americana, Country and Pop music for many years, but this is their first Bluegrass recording. Greene’s debut single, Fall On The Clinch Mountain, from his upcoming CD, New Timey, was produced by Scott Tutt at Cowboy Lizard Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.
